Solana Beach

Stretching along Highway 101, lesser known Solana Beach offers great surf, less crowded beaches and a designers shopping mecca…

In between Del Mar and Encinitas lies sleepy Solana Beach, where it seems everyone owns a dog, a bicycle or both!  Solana offers several miles of dramatic bluff-backed beaches, charming Fletcher Cove, and a variety of innovative eateries and boutiques.

The famed Cedros Avenue Design District is a seasoned shoppers paradise. A stand-out among the rest, Cedros shops specialize in the unique. One-of-a-kind decor, furnishings, art, jewelry, clothing and accessories can be found in all price ranges.  Chic garden shops, designer finds, and world import showrooms broaden the selection for home appointments.  Also on Cedros is the famous live music venue, the Belly Up Tavern. Established in 1974, the Belly Up earned its place in SoCal rock history long before sidewalks, or even neighboring retailers, had moved onto Cedros Avenue.

On any given weekend, you’ll see a constant stream of cyclists vying for a place along Highway 101. During the racing season, throngs of race enthusiasts emerge from the ultra-modern Solana Beach train station, for a short ride via double decker bus to the Race Track. Real estate in the area can be pricey, with somewhat more affordable condominiums lining the bluffs.
