In early 1900′s, Point Loma was largely inhabited by Portuguese fishermen and to this day, exudes the charm of that era.
Point Loma & Shelter Island are a boating lovers mecca. From sailboats to research ships, submarines to yachts… Hundreds of local and visiting vessels line the area marinas. A handful of resorts also populate Shelter Island, with rare views of our downtown skyline above the San Diego Bay. Outdoor concerts at Humphrey’s by the Bay, as well as plentiful sports fishing excursions bring throngs of locals and tourists to Shelter Island during the season.
Liberty Station is a newly re-developed mega-shopping area that was originally used as a Naval Training Center from 1923 to 1997. Maintaining it’s original historic architecture, it’s now home to waterfront parks, walking & cycling trails, dozens of new shops, restaurants, performance venues and schools. Real estate in the area gets pricey, with tony La Playa and the Wooded Area toping the chart. At the tip of the peninsula, the Navy still has a presence, and Cabrillo National Monument at the top of the hill has some of the most stunning vistas in Southern California…
