Cardiff by the Sea

Taking its name from Cardiff in Wales, Cardiff by the Sea is the epitome of the small, picturesque coastal community.

Cardiff-by-the-Sea extends south from Old Encinitas until it reaches the shores of neighboring Solana Beach. Cardiff is one of only a handful of areas along the 77 mile coastline with ‘on the sand’ restaurants and camping… the hugely popular beachfront San Elijo State Campground. The San Elijo State Beach offers superior access to the beach and surfing, as well as paved walking & cycling paths along the top of the bluff.

Residents lucky enough to call Cardiff-by-the-Sea home, enjoy unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean as Hwy 101 spans bluff & sand.  Nothing really to block ones view, just a campground, the beaches and a smattering of restaurants.  Three state beaches and a campground put sand and surf all within easy reach.  The San Elijo lagoon and wetlands are located just across Hwy 101 from Cardiff State Beach,  home to many protected species. With some of the best surfing breaks along the coastline, and walk-out beach access, Cardiff is one of the top destination spots of local and visiting beach connoisseurs.
