Beacon’s Beach

“Despite the long crumbling path that zig-zags down the face of the bluff, Beacon’s is the most popular beach in the area.  Typical of Leucadia, surfers will often outnumber the sunbathers.  Tell your friends, but not too many. And don’t tell any birds. Especially pelicans…”  Sandbag C. Gull

Logistics

  • Lifeguard services → if any ← varies by season, day, hours, even weather!
  • There are no bathroom or shower facilities
  • Parking is available in a small lot, in addition to limited street parking in the vicinity.
  • There is no regular stairway access here, but a long, uneven trail that descends to the beach area at a fairly easy grade.  Erosion continues to cut into the trail, making the footing increasingly unstable
  • A few restaurants and shops are located just a block east along 101, otherwise plan to bring everything you might need

Directions

Take Interstate 5 to Leucadia: Exit at Leucadia Boulevard & head west toward ocean.  Across Hwy 101, Leucadia Blvd ends at Neptune Avenue, which runs one way only, north.  Turn right to access the parking lot at it’s north end.   Enjoy!
