“Not accessible by street, this wild stretch of beach runs from the border of Torrey Pines (below 4th Street) up through 13th Street to the North. The E-W streets halt above the train tracks. Beware! Crumbling sandstone bluffs & a hefty fine if you’re caught hopping the tracks…” Sandbag C. Gull
South Del Mar City Beach Access Slideshow
Logistics
- 4th Street becomes Del Mar Heights Road at Camino Del Mar
- Lifeguard services → if any ← varies by season, day, hours, even weather!
- Dogs are permitted on the beach according to seasonal limitations. Observe posted signs
- Continuing south from Seagrove Park there are viewpoints located at the end of all numbered streets. From these vantage points there are NO maintained routes of access to reach the beach below the bluffs. There is a popular walking trail just across the railroad tracks and it easy to see where folks have established trails, but remember that crossing the tracks brings the risk of a hefty fine, in addition to the hazard of highly unstable bluffs in this area.
Directions
Take Interstate 5 to Del Mar Heights Road, exit west. Continue across Camino Del Mar and turn right on Stratford Court. Street Parking is very limited in this residential area.
