Carlsbad Boulevard Beach Viewpoint & Access Slideshows
(Heading north along Carlsbad Blvd, aka: Hwy 101)
Viewpoints at Solamar Drive & Palomar Airport Road
South of Palomar Airport Rd., there is a parking area with a few angled parking spaces near Solamar Drive. No beach access. Stay off the → steep & treacherous ← bluffs.
At Palomar Airport Road & Hwy 101: A small, unpaved parking area is accessible from the southbound lanes of travel. → NO ← maintained beach access, only a steep bluff area.
Cerezo Drive
Hwy 101 & Cerezo Drive: You access the beach via a long privately maintained stairway. Limited street parking is available, no facilities. At high tide this beach becomes obscured by the water and is mostly → impassable ←
Cannon Road
Charming beach viewpoint with benches at the south end of Carlsbad’s Coast Walk. NO safe beach access, beware of crumbling bluffs.
Logistics
- Lifeguard services → if any ← varies by season, day, hours, even weather!
- Limited parking available along Hwy 101
- Public beach access available at the Cerezo stairs
- Steep, eroding bluffs & no access at Solamar & Palomar locales
- Dogs are not allowed on Carlsbad beaches (leashed or otherwise)
- No public facilities
Directions
Take Interstate 5 to Carlsbad, exit at Palomar Airport Road & head west to Hwy 101. Go south for Solamar, north for Cerezo.
