“San Elijo State Beach & Campground is at the outlet of the San Elijo Lagoon. In the area, several restaurants offer beachfront views of the ocean & beach scene. Cuisine varies… from fresh seafood & healthy local fare, to margaritas and Mexican favorites. Me, I like the margaritas… makes flying easier.” Sandbag C. Gull
Reefs to the north keep most wave action off the beach, accommodating swimmers, kayaking and body boarding. Surfers generally prefer Pipes, a surf break just north of the campground or Cardiff Reef where the cliffs end at the south end of the campground. A diverse mix of scenic bluffs, walk-out beach, lagoon & campground activity make for an interesting beach scene.
